The use of Abrasive Wheels is covered by The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER)
The primary objective of PUWER is to ensure that work equipment (abrasive wheels) do not jeopardise the health and safety of anyone.
These regulations require that work equipment should be SUITABLE for the work process, MAINTAINED in good repair and INSPECTED at suitable intervals
All persons who use work equipment should receive adequate TRAINING, provided with HEALTH & SAFETY information and given written INSTRUCTIONS where appropriate.
Nearly half of all accidents involving abrasive wheels are due to an unsafe system of work or operator error.
